Sun Theatre
Only a few months after installing ‘Truesound’, Brudenell-Woods contracted to install new Simplex projectors with RCA Photophone sound. The theater was closed for two weeks from mid-September 1929 for the installation. Work continued at site until 2 a.m. on opening day – Saturday 28th September 1929. Not long after the workers departed, some burglars entered the premises and attempted to open the safe. It proved too tough a job and the thieves gave up, leaving with only a few sweets from the confectionery shop. As with most criminals, their brains were in short supply – having been closed for a fortnight, the theater had no money in the safe anyway!
