Roxy Theatre
In September 1951 Francis Albert Shaw purchased the Roxy, then in July 1955 the theater was taken over by St. Mary’s Theatres Pty. Ltd. As the name implies, this company exhibited in nearby St Mary’s - and Penrith. The company was run by Lisle Freeman Spence (1884-1972) and his son Bruce Alexander Spence (b.1919) who promptly set about investing in new widescreen equipment for the Roxy, with CinemaScope launching there on Monday 26th December 1955.
