Regent Theatre
Watercolor of George Street looking south from opposite the cathedral site by John Rae. The date 1842 is deemed now to be approximate. Still, it is one of the earliest surviving images of the area. The descriptive text from the Daily Telegraph 20th November 1927 also has problems, as William Talbot operated the Kangaroo Inn on the Bank of New South Wales site, but also gave his name to the Talbot Inn opposite – where the Century Theatre later stood. The red square I have added indicates rough location of the Regent.
