Regent Theatre
The fourth Regent attraction was “The Gaucho” featuring the leading swashbuckler of the age - Douglas Fairbanks. The United Artists release was also written and produced by the star. He felt shooting in black and white was more suited to the nature of his story than the ’two strip’ Technicolor used to great advantage on his previous effort: “The Black Pirate”. “The Gaucho” opened 23rd June 1928 for an ‘extended season’ of just three weeks. (The first three Regent programs had run for five).
