Regent Theatre
Business was brisk at both the Regent and Lyceum for their first ‘talkie’ attractions. Here the Regent queue extends from the entrance doors down George Street for the 10.30 a.m. session on opening day. As the Lyceum started their showing half an hour later at 11 a.m., it was therefore the Regent which became the first theater in Australia to present a full sound program - Saturday 29th December 1928.
