Regent Theatre
“The Robe” had its Australian Premiere at the Sydney Regent 9th December 1953 and ran an exclusive season of 17 weeks. (Total admissions: 395,500). Then, after seven days off, it continued its city run at the Esquire in Pitt Street for a further 4 weeks until 12th May 1954. “King of the Khyber Rifles” followed “The Robe” at the Regent on 8th April 1954. In the list of Hoyts city theaters, the Esquire later became the Town, Park the Paris, and the Civic was taken over by Greater Union to become the Barclay.
