Regent Theatre
Here my alliterative skills are used to spice up what is normally a dull appeal for Regent floor staff in a 1969 Sydney Morning Herald Positions Vacant classified advertisement. The wage of $52.50 p/w was not particularly attractive – but had appeal for women under 21, who were paid at the full adult rate. It was a five day week (always including Saturday) which was usually 10.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. on three days and 12.30 to 11 p.m. on the other two. There were meal and other breaks every two hours or so, which spread the 36 hour work week over 51 hours. Sunday screenings had not yet been introduced. Booking Clerks were rostered for six hours on each of the six days with no breaks.
