The Medich Brothers (Peter and Lubo from Queensland) bought the Protea and renamed it Royal in early 1951. This is one of the first newspaper advertisements featuring the new name. Renovation of patron facilities took place in February 1952, and a bio box upgrade in May included new Westrex sound equipment.
