Amazing theater and both screens are digital. The only drawback is that it’s not stadium seating and if you happen to have someone taller sitting in front of you, you will experience problems viewing the film and have to choose another seat. Other than that, beautifully decorated, friendly staff and it re-creates that old “movie house” feel.
I remember the last film I saw there was 1997’s “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” and shortly after that it was closed. The building by then was “old” to today’s standards and even by the 90’s with the multiplexes booming. The area is predominantly for retails like supermarkets and Kosher restaurants and markets. I can see why it was closed down. The Westchester multiplexes are around a 30 minute drive, closer to going to Manahattan. One could take the Bee-Line buses to the nearby Cross-County multiplex in a short time so there’s no need to keep that theater. Brings back old memories but not enough to keep it open in today’s economics.
It closed around late 1993. I was a high school student from the nearby JFK High School and the last movie I saw there was “Needful Things” around the time. I remember watching “Batman”, “Passenger 57”, “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, “Ghostbusters II”, and “Rapid Fire”
I remember seeing “E.T.” and “Without a Trace” (1983) there. It must have closed in the mid 1980’s because I remember it became a ballet class studio by around 1989 to sometime in the 1990’s. In the 1990’s, it became a carpet store and I’m sure it’s still there.
I remember the Plaza twin, it was very popular in the 1980’s. I remember seeing “Aliens”, “The Living Daylights”, “Batman” and other big 80’s films. I saw “True Lies” and “Mortal Kombat” in the 90’s. I was shocked to see them demolished. Anyone have any pics of the theaters in its heyday? Anyone knows when it first officialy opened?
