The State Theatre was built for over $100,000 and opened with fanfare on Sept. 15, 1937 including a speech by Findlay’s Mayor Homer Dorsey and the film, “It’s All Yours.” It was billed as the best sound theater in the area. It was part of the Stueve-Wilson operated Findlay State Theatre Company circuit that also ran the Royal.
