The Loew’s Strand Theatre closed permanently following Frank Sinatra in MGM’s “Hole in the Head” supported by an MGM “Tom & Jerry” cartoon and a Loew’s News of the Day newsreel on August 16, 1959. The next Strand ad was less than a week later - the salvage sale of the building as it was demolished for a municipal parking garage.
