To say that the exploitation film, “Mom and Dad” was a sensation in Lumberton is probably an understatement. All shows sold out at the 750-seat theater and 50 cent tickets were said to be scalped at the male screenings for as much as $2.50. Five women reportedly fainted but nary a Lumberton male passed out. Traffic jams were caused by the hordes of people and someone called in the fire department to inspect a false report of a fire and see if the theater was operating properly with such a capacity crowd.
