This is my favorite theater to go to since I moved to the north side 5 years ago. 1st run movies at a cheap price and they also serve alcohol at the concession stand so now you can have a beer with your Milk Duds.
The Village North/Visionary theaters is dirty at times but it reminds me of the old theaters they had downtown. This theater also offers midnight shows and this gives 3rd shift workers like myself a chance to see movies at the theater at a time that’s convenient for me.
The last movie I saw at the Chicago Theater was E.T when I was around 7 or 8. I remember going downtown with my friends when I was around 12 years old(1986) and having so much to do downtown. It was so much fun to go downtown when I was younger. We used to go to the Wood’s Theater, United Artist, and maybe grab some pizza at Ronnie’s and then hit the gameroom that used to be in between State and Dearborn on Randolph. Ahhh!! the memories.
I have to correct you Paul. There are 2 bus stops closer than the Metra station. Take the Fullerton bus to southport(near the Burger King) and walk a couple of blocks south or take the Ashland bus to Webster and walk one block east across the Chicago River bridge.

I know his comment is 5 years old but I have to respond. The Wood’s Theater was not demolished in the early 1980s. It was closed in the late 1980s.
