I live 15 minutes from this theatre and have been going there for 10 years, since I moved up to Connecticut. This place is fabulous. Small non-assuming. Great popcorn (the real stuff) it has it’s own little culture and ambiance. Shows the latest Indie films and occasionally a good blockbuster. It reminds me of the little theatre’s I used to go to in Manhattan in the 70’s and 80’s. Plus it has a great little Tapas restaurant next door.
I don’t think so. The Game Room Store was right up against the Anchor store which I think at the time was Ohrbachs. The theatre was a few doors in and it definitely became a steak house. I ate there many times after the closing of the movie theatre.
I could walk to this theatre easily – just a few blocks away. Was really impressive inside. Went to my very first movie by myself here – saw Frank Langella in Dracula. I think it was 1979.
This was without a doubt THE THEATRE to go to see all of the great movies. The architecture was very cool (perfect for seeing a James Bond movie). The waiting hall where many an art/photography show would be held. Very classy – I really miss the old place.
I wish they had one of these forums for Shopping malls – i’d love to relive memories of Menlo Park Mall and Woodbridge Shopping Center from when they first opened.
Yes Barry M. is right about it not being split. And all the important movies usually played at the Menlo Park Cinema. Although now that i think of it – I do remember seeing Butch Cassidy at Fox and a few of the early James Bond movies. ie: Dr. No. etc GREAT theatre though that’s for sure!
It was then the Ohrbach’s wing of Woodbridge Center and I saw Midnight express (1978), Force 10 from Navarone (1978) and I believe either The Wind and the Lion or The Man Who Would Be King which would have been (1975). I believe after it closed it became a Rustler’s Steakhouse.

This was/is a really cute theatre. Went here a lot in the 70’s and early 80’s. Great memories.

Was this theatre not around in the 60’s – i could have sworn it was?
