I am shocked to find this cinema is to close this year.Yet another Odeon is lost to the might of the multiplex cinema. When will we learn that our beloved old movie theatres should be treasured and preserved. The closure of this fine cinema has become an all to familiar story around England. The Odeon chain is owned by greedy land developers and think nothing of what they have inherited from the founder of Odeon cinemas.Let us hope that a campaign is lauched to try and save this historic gem. Great site full of information and some good photo’s.

I visit the site on a regular basis, and it keeps me well informed what is going on in other towns and citys.
Keep up the good work.

With recent news that this fine cinema could be closed by the odeon company many people have signed a petition to try and save the odeon.

Myself, and another devoted cinema historian are trying to changed the present owners minds and keep the cinema operating for future generations to enjoy.

The odeon west end is not the the fine cinema theatre it once was. over the years many alterations have taken place and has left a bland interior. no matter what odeon could do now it will never be the wonderful cinema it once was.

this was a fine modern cinema for its time.I remember going to this cinema when I was younger than I am now. It is hard to understand why such a fine odeon cinema never proved a success. I feel sure even today the right company with the right programing could make this cinema work. what a waste of a fine cinema.

this wonderfull cinema is now a night club. The auditorium is fully painted black thus covering all the cinemas internal detailing which is what the cinema was listed for.this should never have happened and the people who let this happen should never be forgiven.

THE FLAGSHIP OF THE ODEON CHAIN. EVEN AFTER THIS RECENT REBRANDING IT STILL REMAINS A STRIKING CINEMA TODAY.ODEON SHOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE THIS FAMOUS CINEMA STILL ENTERTAINING PEOPLE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I LOOK FORWARD TO MY NEXT VISIT!.

I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE ODEON COMPANY IT SEEMS THAT THEY ARE INTENT ON DISTROYING ALL THEY HAVE LEFT OF THE FINE FORMER PARAMOUNT CINEMAS. THEY SHOULD TREASURE THESE ONCE GOLDEN AGE MOVIE PALACES FOR THE NEXT GENERATIONS TO SEE WHAT A GOLDEN AGE CINEMA ONCE LOOKED LIKE.

I VISITED THIS ODEON THIS YEAR TO SEE HOW THE COMPANY HAD REBRANDED THIS ONCE FINE MOVIE PALACE.THE REBRANDING IS ONLY ON THE EXTERIOR AND I MUST ADMIT IT DOES LOOK BETTER THAN THE LAST MAKE OVER WHICH WAS DONE BY RANK. THE INTERIOR HAS NOT CHANGED MUCH SINCE IT,S LAST CONVERSION. THE FOYER AND THE CIRCLE FOYER HAS NOT CHANGED MUCH SINCE THE CINEMA FIRST OPENED. LET US HOPE IT WILL STAY THAT WAY!.

THE NEW REBRANDED ODEON IS ONE OF THE SMARTEST REBRANDED ODEON,S IN YORKSHIRE. HOWEVER, IT WAS UNFORGIVABLE TO SPLIT THE BALCONY INTO 2 SCREENS THE BALCONY WAS THE ONLY SOLE SURVIVER OF THE TRIPLING DONE BY FORMER OWNER/S RANK. THANKFULLY,THE EXTERIOR REMAINS IN IT/S TRUE ART DECO STYLE.

THE NEW ODEON MULTIPLEX WHICH IS KNOWN AS LEEDS / BRADFORD ODEON COULD NEVER REPLACE THE FORMER NEW VICTORIA/ODEON IN PRINCES WAY BRADFORD.

THE FORMER ODEON IS NOW A NIGHT CLUB FOR GAY PEOPLE. IT HAS BEEN ALTERED INTERNALLY,BUT ONLY ON A SMALL SCALE AND THE EXTERIOR REMAINS MUCH AS IT WAS BUILT IN THE 1930/S. IT WAS SAD TO SEE THIS FINE ODEON FALL TO THE MIGHT OF THE MODERN MULTIPLEX.

this closure should have never happened.odeon should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves for closing a famous city centre landmark.the rather bland leeds/bradford odeon multiplex cannot replace an historic movie palace.

THANKFULLY YORK COUNCIL SAW SENSE AND REJECTED THE REBRANDING OF THE ODEON SIGNAGE.THIS KEY CINEMA THEATRE SHOULD RETAIN ALL THE ORIGINAL FEATURES IT HAS LEFT.WE CAN ONLY HOPE THE ODEON COMPANY DOES NOT NOW CLOSE THE CINEMA.ODEON SHOULD BE PROUD TO HAVE THIS FAMOUS HISTORIC CINEMA IN IT’S EXISTING PORTFOLIO.
