I must have ran up & down those stairs a thousand times. When we went to the movies, and it ended . We used to all run downstairs and hide behind the massive circular couch or in the wooden , closed door phone booths, or in the bathrooms so we could sneak back up and try to blend in with the audience waiting to get in to see the next showing. I remember the aroma of the Pizzeria, JOES FLEETWOOD, would flood the downstairs and make it almost unbearable to stay down there long enough without wanting a slice.or 2 .

What an iconic theater in my memory banks. I went there as a kid with my parents & brother, later when I got older, I went with just friends, no adults. Had one of my first solo dates in this theater. Remember not even watching the movie and just hanging out downstairs on their Huge, circular platform mod couch. Sadly to say, it fell into money issues trying to keep up with the mega-complexes. I am proud an honored to say that my Brother &I attended the last showing of a film there before they closed the doors forever. I’m pretty sure it was Dances with Wolves., hard to remember, but I do remember the old lady who was there 24/7 walking into the auditorium and announcing, “whoever wants anything from the candy counter better get it now cause I’m going upstairs to run the projector, & there’s no heat, so if it’s too cold for you in here come upfront & Ill give you a refund.” That was the Parkway Theatre.
