I attended the cinema just once, on Wednesday 11th August 1982 while on holiday in the area. That day, I saw a double-bill of ‘The Beyond’ and ‘Shock’ (I haven’t seen either of these on TV since then!)
I saw ‘Jungle Burger’ there shortly before it closed, on Monday 30th May 1983 to be precise (I was 19 at the time) and was baffled by the procession of men going to the toilet, not knowing at the time that it was a gay haunt.
It was rather annoying but I did not think to ask for a refund.
Great photos of the exterior and interior. It brings back memories of my only visit there when I saw ‘The Phantom of Liberty’ (plus a short foreign cartoon, the title of which I can’t remember – can anyone help?) in July 1981.
The interior shot shows the auditorium as I remember it, a single shallow seating block and a large square-ish screen.
