Utahna Theater, Coshocton Ohio 1922

Another Chacos Brothers Theater in Coshocton, Ohio. Given that the other photo posted here is dated 1922 and has the same cars, I presume this is also from the same opening. The Chacos Brothers were from the Greek of Nestani and first settled in Utah, hence they named this Theater after their time in Utah.

They traveled the USA showing silent movies in empty store fronts - traveling with black and white sheets and a record player and projector. They would hang the black sheet in the front of the store and the white white in the back as a screen. I still have some of those records (like with droning airplane noises). This is one of their first of I believe 4 or 5 Theaters from when they settled down in “boom town” Coshocton.

The crossing of the canals helped make this a booming spot. Photo from the Greg Chacos family collection.

I’m sorry – typo. I’m the grandson of one or the Chacos brothers – Ted Chacos.
