wolfgirl500 – I finished the book on my aunts. If you would like to see it go to www.blurb.com and search for Burke Sisters. It is open so you can see each page.

I followed your steps and still did not work – think it has more to do with my keyboard possibly. Not a problem tho. I save the page under favorites and then send to hubby!

amoswald – Hello, new here! My aunts, The Three Burke Sisters sang at the Marbro, as well as other Chicago theaters. In the late 1930’s they ended their careers, and Rita Burke married a football coach from St. Mels! I just got a facebook acct., I will check out their page. Thanks for the info.

Thanks! For some reason the print screen on my dumb keyboard does not do anything – can’t even do what you do. I will find them on google (although it drives me crazy) and send link to husband at work.

wolfgirl500 ~ WOW you are awesome, can’t thank you enough for these! (Could you post the first one a bit bigger? Hope it is okay to ask that!) Any idea of how I can get an ad for the week before when they were at the Orpheum in Akron? I am creating a scrapbook for all of the Great Grandchildren. Thanks again!

Warren – thanks for info. Any idea if the pics are just of the building or perhaps some are of the performers they had over the years? I am in Texas so I won’t be getting there anytime soon. However I do have a date I can look up!

My mistake – “Escapade” was released in the US on July 7, 1935.

Donna,

My aunts, The Three Burke Sisters, sang “Sweetheart,Sweetheart” at the Marbro on Feb. 14 in either 1932 or 1933, when they were first starting their careers. Rita Burke married Edward McCarthy in 1938 when he was the assistant football coach at St. Mels’s High School. Small world …..

Great info! I am researching the careers of the “Three Burke Sisters” (my aunts) who were in the “Bandbox Revue” one of the stage attractions – on the screen was “Escapade”. From their picture I am guessing 1932-34 range. The newspaper article I have is trimmed and without a date etc.

Is there a way to find out more on the stage attractions? I am doing the research for my aunts grandchildren and great grandchildren, so they will know how wonderful the Burke Sisters were!

Thanks,

MGabel
