I managed this theater for Carmike from August 1993 until it closed in January 1994. Spent a huge amount of time and energy trying to clean it up – it was absolutely nasty when I took it over – only to have Carmike drop the ball on the lease.
I managed this theater VERY briefly for Carmike in January 1994. There were several nights where we closed early because no one showed up for the 9:00 shows – no one knew the theater even existed because of where it was built. Interestingly enough, my now-father-in-law is who built the theater originally (as in, the contractor, not owner).
I managed this theater for Carmike from January 1994 to December 1996. We used to call it the “Purple Palace of Love” due to the excessive use of purple in the decor – seats, counters, carpet, etc. The place used to be packed, but the auditoriums were abnormally small, with the largest seating less than 250, and the sound quality was abyssmal, with 3 of the 6 auditoriums featuring only mono sound.
