I remember going with my parents to see “Giant” in 1956 or ‘57.
It was unusual for a movie that popular to show at the California.
Most of the big films played up the street at the Granada.
In the early ‘60’s, the California ran triple features of horror
and action movies . Lots of AIP releases and Steve Reeves gladiator
type films.
The California had a balcony that was closed most of the time.
I lived in or near Upland in the ‘50’s and '60s.
Saw “Alice In Wonderland” “Bambi” the 1956 re-release of “King Kong"
"Love Me Tender” a re-release of “Man Who Knew Too Much” with"Trouble
with Harry" as 2nd feature, “The Bold & The Brave” and many more.
the admission was 50cents for adults 35 cents for kids. Nice neighborhood theater.
Lived in Bakersfield in the early to late ‘70’s. By that time
the Fox was not in the best of shape. Still,it was fun to go to movies there. Remember seeing “The Sting” and “Chinatown” and many
Disney films.

My family lived in Corona California in the late ‘50’s and we used to
go to the Fox because it had a lot of the best movies and was the best theater around. I liked it better than most of the Hollywood
theaters. I was 10 years old in 1958.
I remember seeing “Auntie Mame” “The Vikings” “Rio Bravo” and
“North By Northwest”. The screen was huge and the picture was always
bright.It was a great experience to see a movie there.
It must be 1955 since they are showing “We’re No Angeles”
I went to Chaffey High School in Ontario California with Bill Hertz's
son, also named Bill. A very nice guy just like his father.

Saw “Rock-A-Bye Baby” with Jerry Lewis and “My Man Godfry”(‘57 version)
I saw “Macabre” & “The Ten Commandments” there..no not on the same bill,
Another VistaVision film that played at The Paramount was
“The Court Jester” in early 1956. Does anyone know if it was in 8
perf Horizontal?
Saw “All The Presidents Men”, Mc Cabe & Mrs. Miller" and a couple
of Clint Eastwood “Dirty Harry” movies there in the “70’s.
The Fox Pomona was almost as great as the Fox Pomona. I saw lots of Big films there in the ‘60’s.

Was the Paramount equiped to show 8 perf vistaVision? I think
the 1956 version of “The Man Who Knew Too Much” played there.
Only saw one movie there “Operation Petticoat” . Loved the theater!

The De Anza was a great theater, not as great as the Fox Riverside,
but it had a big screen and good projection.
I remember seeing “The FBI Story” “Teacher’s Pet” and I think
“Spirit of St. Louis”
