Ken, I can see that you were busy snapping away during the CTA meeting last month. The CJ Granada is special to me as it was my local cinema during the 1950’s and 60’s when I lived in Battersea. I attach a link to my Flickr set which includes historic as well as photos taken at the AGM:

I had the pleasure of visiting this building in August 2011 – just a week after it’s re-opening as a Wetherspoon pub/resturant. I must say, the £1.5M re-vamp is very impressive. Please do look at the photo posted on my Flickr page. For comparison purposes Ben Gibbs, Kent History Forum, has allowed me to use photos which he took just prior to Wetherspoons buying the premises: http://www.flickr.com/photos/22737830@N02/sets/72157627800118460/

I have added three photographs of this cinema. Living in Battersea (this theatre was built virtually on the border of Wandsworth with Battersea)in the 1950’s this cinema was a regular fixture for me.

The future of the (long removed) Wurlitzer is now in some doubt. The Buttermarket in Shewsbury last converted into a nightclub (with organ still in situ) but the nightclub has now closed with heavy debt.

The fragment of the building which was left for some twenty years after demolition (mentioned in main write up) consisted of a vertical line of mosaic tiles. Sadly, this too has now been demolished so no sign of this wonderful cinema remains.
