The blaze of white lighting from dozens of globes under the marquee has not yet been turned on. With the brightly lit frontage of Wests Theatre almost directly opposite, this part of Hindley Street made a brave show at night, particularly when the normally rival theatres showed ‘Gone With the Wind’ simultaneously to cater for the huge audiences attracted to the film.
