The black draping at the left light-proofs the area under the balcony used for live TV programmes. The beautiful drapes and chandeliers have gone. The fly-tower’s curtain and scenery lines can be seen to the right, as can a particle board protective barrier erected over the bottom of the proscenium arch as part of the agreement that the theatre should be left undamaged at the end of the lease – an undertaking honoured more in the breach than in the execution. As for the details of the Regent’s decor, they speak for themselves. This was a magnificent theatre!
