Sir Ewen Waterman wanted this theatre to have a reception area with all the comforts of an elegant family lounge. This was and still is the feeling engendered in patrons. Alan Woodard ensured their comfort, even to the extent of providing a grandfather clock and a real fire which was a very welcome feature in Winter.
