This is perfect timing. This year, the movie was re-released on bluray fully restored and uncut, and the guy who played Antonius, Tony Curtis, passed away. A TV show loosely based on the film and the legend debuted to decent ratings on Starz, although the guy who plays him is fighting cancer, forcing production of the second season to be halted.

RIP CT user. He never commented on any of the theaters that I commented on.

Next 3D film to open next week is My Soul To Take, which was converted into 3D rather than being shot. It is also Wes Craven’s first 3D movie that he directed. I’m sick of paying high dollar to see 3D movies. I usually see fewer 3D and IMAX movies than regular films combined.

moviebuff82 commented about Smithsonian receives $5 million grant from Warner Brothers on Sep 24, 2010 at 11:26 am

This is good news. I haven’t been to the Smithsonian in years. I only have been to the Air and Space Museum for its IMAX theater and space exhibits. Too bad it won’t show 70mm film.

I went to see “The Other Guys” in theater #7 on Free Movie Tuesday. I got into the theater just in time for the movie to start. Decent crowd, and presentation was very good, even though there were some masking issues but they were minor.

moviebuff82 commented about Theaters to be required to post calorie counts on Sep 20, 2010 at 11:48 am

This is good news for moviegoers who want to watch what they eat at the movies. Yankee Stadium (the year old one) has been doing this from the beginning, as well as other sports venues in the nation.

One other note…the lights were left on during the previews, which was a bit distracting. Hopefully they fix that issue the next time I see a movie there. I sent a comment to AMC’s Facebook page to see if they respond.

Tonight is the last night that Vampire Weekend is playing their concert at the Hall, the third sold out night after two sold out concerts the two previous days. Recently, ownership of the Hall is now by MSG Entertainment, spun off from Cablevision but still run by the Dolans.

the seats were good and comfy. I usually sit in the middle of the seat above the non-stadium seats so I’m near the screen, although I usually feel the back of the seat since people kick the chair sometimes. I usually like to lay my feet up near the guardrails to relax. The digital preshow is much improved from a few months ago. I went to a 4:50 showing. The cost of the movie for me and my dad is $22. That’s expensive.

Went to see “The Town” at AMC in Rockaway. Projection was sharp and clear and bright and colorful. Sound was good.

I agree. The hand dryers are noisy but they can dry hands faster than a paper towel. As for educational stuff, Rockaway can also show documentaries on their other screens such as films by michael moore as well as other filmmakers. It sucks that that film about Pat Tillman is not playing at this theater. Hopefully it will reach a wider audience in Rockaway.

I know. So far, comments that are not related to this theater have not been removed. From now on, I’ll talk mostly about the theater, not anything unrelated. Slimshady, how does 4k compare with 2k, 35mm, 70mm, digital IMAX, and regular IMAX film?

moviebuff82 commented about Summer BO down 6% from last year on Sep 15, 2010 at 11:39 am

I agree Eric F. Thanks to netflix, cable tv, pay tv, and easier ways to download movies online, the box office will deteriorate unless a movie the size of Avatar brings people back into theaters.

starting next tuesday, this theater will be all digital. Say goodbye to nearly 3 years of projected film and Dolby digital loud sound and say hello to crisp, more than high def projection (if the film is shot in 4k) and clear, uncompressed audio you find on blu-ray. Hopefully ticket prices will stay the same from when they were during the summer. One notable release in 3D this weekend is Alpha and Omega, the last movie that Dennis Hopper was involved in, in which he voices a wolf. It could do for CGI what Balto did for animation.

I know gone with the wind did quite well, even in re-releases. They should do an IMAX version since the screen size is right for it, probably for its 75th anniversary in 2014!!! It’s still the highest grossing epic movie ever too, back when ticket prices were real low.

Resident Evil Afterlife dominated the boxoffice due to its 3-D prices, crushing its competition. The overall weekend box office was not good. Hopefully things will pick up with Harry Potter, the new Facebook movie, Tron 2, and other movies.
