Jack, since Bob Hambright passed away. Who now is responsible for the Millers operation? There is a young guy there, I would say around mid forties and an older gentlemen who is the projectionist.
So Jack I have been to the Miller in Lewistown several times. The renovations to the Miller make it much nicer. Will the marquee ever get the neon redone and the signage relit?
VERY NICE WRITE UP!!!!!I know where the Capitol sat. Hard to believe a 1126 seat movie theater sat in what now is an empty lot. The Holiday Entertainment Company is down to one theater the Miller in Lewistown. I would love to see pictures of the Capitol.
Lost Momory…that is the new marquee you linked on the 28th Dec. 2007. Looks great in person. I have tried to find a picture of the Hill, but no luck. I thought if anyone could find one it would be you.
Lost Memory….The picture you provided is one before the marquee was renovated. It has been updated with energy efficent lighting. If you want to see an even more beautiful marquee, go to the Campus website and check out the pictures. An outstanding job was done. Thanks for that picture..Now if you can come across a picture of the HILL theater in Camp Hill Pa. That is one I would love to see.
Point well taken Mike…I have been to many a movie theater where prices on concessions were much cheaper and they always had a line. Those theaters were owned by independents and not chains.
If my memory serves correct. The Hill was demolished in 1980 or 81. I was out of high school in 1980. The Hill’s curtain now hangs in the Roxy theatre in Northampton Pennsylvania. I wonder if Lost memory can come up with a photo of the Hill
I went to the Hill when I was a kid. At that time they showed alot of Disney films. It started out life as a second run house. Can anyone come up with a picture?
Pete, you can also go to www.125aday.com and get a business plan. They have plans as well as information on promoting your business as well. Good Luck with your theater.
How could I purchase a photo of Mr. Max Thomas in front of the Ben Bolt(the picture that dateline describes in the above post)? I came across a picture of the Ben Bolt on the CinemaTour website and would like to add it to my collection
Lost…there program was mixed….movies and concerts..so your right concerts could be added to the “Function” above. I was there once since the new owner’s took over. They made some really nice changes. They even redid the neon on the sign. Looks great at night.
You betcha…Norelco..at one time used to be a projectionist in my area…I had the opportunity to meet him and talk about area theaters he worked at….he is a well of knowledge.
Jack..Are you familar with a guy who used to be a projectionist in the Pittsburgh area by the name of Dave Grau…he posts on here under the name Norelco?

Could also be that the family has found out what the company might be worth and might like to take the money and run.
