This one may by listed in Old Hickory Tennessee, named after Andrew Jacksons nickname, You posted about it the other night on the Crescent Amusement Stuff.
You are the man Mike.See what you can find on the Old Hickory Drive-in Nashville it is not on C.T. I Believe,Its one of the Crescent Amustment ones,Thanks.
An Eric I have been there too, we showed one movie for 26 weeks at 5 shows a day at one of my theatres thats 910 showings, same movie, same screen, very boring.
Whats was this theatres name when Loews ran it till it closed? Yeah Mike you do not change the marquee if you do not change the movie, did not have to pay to change the marquee one time for 26 weeks at one of my theatres. By the way did you guys get paid extra to change the marquees in your day? Loews paid the doorman most of the time seperate to change to sign.We paid out straight hours for each marquee, each theatre paid out a different amount because of the different size marquees, the Crescent paid the less be cause we only had one signboard.
More info this drive also had a 52 room motel located on both sides of the screen as can be seen in S Porridge post of Jun 29,2009.This site now is the Hallendale Shopping Center.Elias M. Loew 1898-1984 born in Austria, owned at one time 70 movie theatres,17 drive-ins, and a chain of hotels and the Bay State Raceway with a man named Lou Waters. As the header says this drive-in motel operated from 1955 til 1975.
As most people know the reason conncession prices are so high is that there is where theatres make their money. Even the high cost of tickets makes folks think the the theatre owner is getting rich not true most first run films pay 90 per cent of the ticket price to the movie distribitor. For instance a house takes in $1000.00 a day in ticket sales it gets to keep $100.00 and pay out $900.00 back to the movies distribitor as you can see do the math, with payroll and other expenses which are many you would not stay in business very long, that is also true why it is very hard for a single screen theatre to operate without some other sourse of income.
I could see the photos but could not scroll in the text parts or print or save any photos like it says in your May 31 2009 post.I clicked on your post and could not get it at all, I clicked under the header and got to see it.
I did not think so Trolleyguy just joking but you never know in the theatre business.
