Yes, almost right across the street. They [arts group} are trying to get money from the city for more work on it. At least a new roof was put on several years ago.

TLSLOEWS.it is Augusta’s largest theatre and pretty much gave us competition during the years i subbed at the Imperial. It stayed open a bit longer, but what they were playing was the worst of Kung-Fu movies.
And sure the little multiplexs in the burbs certainly rushed the closings of both theatres, Today all the little cinemas that opened during the lean years for downtown theatres are all but gone, save one,MASTERS CINEMAS which is our dollar theatre.

The Miller probably had a deal to play most United Artists product, Mike.

“Help!” had just opened at Daniel Village the day before I got to Augusts. I had about 24 hours to kill before I checked in at Fort Gordon. Having seen everything else in town, I found my way to “Help!” and sat through it twice consecutively.

Ed,a friend found a picture of the Miller in an antique store in downtown Augusta.“A HARD DAY’S NIGHT” was playing. He made me acopy of the Picture. I wish I had a scanner to put it on CT.
I found quite a few “LET IT BE” one sheets at the Miller when we were paided to clean up the downstairs dressing rooms for the Opera in 1984. I am sure “LET IT BE” played there, and maybe “YELLOW SUBMARINE” since i also found material on that film in the Basement.

I found a 100 Rifles one sheet with a scene of JIM BROWN and Raquel Welch in a romantic hug! The manager at the time covered it up with a white sheet of paper. I have the poster AND kept the paper covering the questionable scene for that time.

No I never had a Bud at the Miller, but we did have a MILLER Lite one night after getting a ballet out of that theatre after the local ARTS group was using it. It was the only time i ever did a downtown theatre marquee was during the ballet. I should have insisted on doing one at theIMPERIAL,but never thought about it. Everyone hated doing the Marquee. I LOVED IT!
Even when I was an ASSISTANT MGR, No one did the marquee but ME. I know it made a bunch of ushers happy.
