Hello-

i happen to like the two Fantastic Four films that Chris Evans made. so hopefully other Evans devotes can answer a question. i recently bought the disc set with both films on separate discs but the discs contain no extras except audio commentaries. if i had bought the films on the separate discs did they have extras? thanks for any help.

I’m pretty sure Joker will be in regular 70mm film and IMAX laser. That’s what WB did for Kong: Skull Island, Wonder Woman, and Justice League, and when they make IMAX 70mm prints recently, they advertise “IMAX film” (mentioned on the trailers for Nolan’s Dunkirk and Tenet).

Just saw the joker trailer and at the end it says it’s coming out in Imax, Dolby Cinema, and 70mm film. Could this movie be shown in 70mm imax or just laser imax? I know a bunch of the AMC imaxes will have to be renovated before advance tickets go on sale as It Chapter 2 might be the last imax release to be shown in the 10 year old projectors.

Hello-

thanks to Peter A. for the info. also have you watched the Blu-ray disc of Endgame yet? if you do I’m sure you will agree with me the extras are extremely disappointing and could have fit on the disc with film.

I think it’s the same on the digital release

Hello-

does anyone know of a site that has reviews and discussions on dvds and blu-ray discs? the reason i ask is simple. recently i bought the blu-ray disc of Endgame. the film on my widescreen 1080p LED t.v. was !!WOW!! now since the extras were on a separate disc i figured they would be first rate and of a nice running time. guess what? if you combined the running time of all the extras I’m edging the bet you could have included them on the disc with the film. not only that but in the extras there’s virtually nothing about the actual making of Endgame. probably the most disappointing extras I’ve come across on a blu-ray disc.

Nearly 25 years ago this was the event theater to go to for a big movie, whether it was indie or big budget. Nowadays it’s the empire 25 that is the event theater of choice.

Hello-

to ridethectrain- thanks for your reply. if the regular adult ticket with no fancy extras at CMX 62 St. is $25 that is the very definition of OBSCENE.

Probably never, AMC and REGAL don’t want to lose capacity if the theatre sells out.

When will they get recliners in the remaining screens?

ridethectrain

CMX East 62nd Street $25. and iPIC Fulton Market

Hello-

minus any 3-D,IMAX, 3-D IMAX, RPX, 3-D RPX, 4DX or 3-D 4DX surcharges what is the most expensive regular adult movie ticket in Manhattan?

I hope Major Movie studios start owning theaters again so people get better quality theaters.

I wish my local amc had the laser projectors as the current ones are almost a decade old.

It isn’t uncommon to create scope trailers to play in theaters for 1.85 movies just to fill the screen and format of most modern pictures. But yes, saw Lion King in IMAX 3D today, and those five expanded sequences were very impressive and definitely make this the theater to see the movie in.

The previews at amc were in scope in rockaway while the picture was full frame.

Jojoa the previews at the Cinemark here were in scope. I thought that was weird. Yeah I went to You tube after the posts above. A few years back they showed a movie that was filmed in the rare 2.00 in 2.35 aspect ratio.

jojoa… OK.. around twice as wide as high!! Where is it being shown in your 1.90:1 ratio??

jojoa
jojoa on July 20, 2019 at 6:38 pm

What 2.35 aspect Ratio you people are talking about, the movie always has been 1.90:1 aspect ratio always, The ads, tarilers and tv spots are on that same ratio, look that on youtube, or are you receiving an sd stream on Tv and stretching the image.

Well.. Well. Saw LK in 3D yesterday at 09:30 AM in Theater 7 at Kips Bay. (I took a look into the IMAX theater to see how the refurbish is coming along. The only IMAX item left is the screen!! Sadly fear that IMAX will not be coming back, as I’ve mentioned earlier.. the whole mall block is being demolished to make way for a new, larger NYU medical building. Excuse this off topic note!! I’m putting a couple shots of the IMAX theater as it stands now.) Also sad to report LION KING in the Kips Bay theater 7 is not in the wide screen seen in the ads!! More like the TV ratio. What a disappointment. Sorry I couldn’t see it here at Lincoln. I did enjoy the “movie”. It is a remarkable technical accomplishment!! Note: The previews were so loud they shook my seat and made me nauseous. I reported to the manager and he did give me a pass!! Thanks Anthony!!

I thought The Lion King Live was 2.35 aspect ratio. All the previews were in scope. UGH

The original Lion King played at this theater first in 35mm and dolby 5.1 during a holiday reissue in 1994, then was reissued in 70mm imax with the added morning report scene in 2002 and redrawn animation (that version was on the DVD when the film debuted on that format the following year) and a remixed soundtrack and again in 2011 with a 3d conversion that made the original the highest grossing 2d cartoon of all time, a record of which still stands today when stacked up with other classics like Snow White, which was the most reissued Disney movie of all time from 1937 until the early 90s, when it hit home video for the first time in a restored version. The new Lion King is breaking records at the box office and will last for two months. It might come back during the holidays if its nominated for Oscars like the original movie.

sadly my local AMC in Rockaway will show the 1.90:1 version in both 3d for one showtime only and the rest in regular 2d. I guess the sound mix will be the same for imax as Dolby as both use multiple channels.

@klstra

1.43:1 is the original ratio for those five scenes. In standard theaters the movie is in 1.85:1, where it is cropped for those sequences. So we’re not losing any width, we have the same plus more footage on the top and bottom.

You can get discounted tickets for Tuesday shows with a free Stubs account. The reason there may not be early morning shows for 3D is because they try to have both IMAX 3D and IMAX 2D showtimes, so they switch around and can’t give both formats a matinee time.
