thanks for letting me know because fandango’s fan alert didn’t. Boy those good seats went fast.I will go wednesday.

Why is it seem that the first week or 2’s screen times aren’t that convenient for getting out of work & getting to the theater & then they come around to screenings around 7pm or 8pm?

Its been this way with this imax even before they did reserved seating.

Tickets are on sale for Nolan’s ‘Interstellar’ playing at the IMAX in 15/70mm and 4K on the Loews Screen.

Under performing to it’s potential. Have you seen how pathetic their IMAX presentation is since they switched from 15/70mm.

The last time I was at the Lincoln Square to see ‘Lucy" i inquired about 15/70mm at the IMAX screen. I was told that “Interstellar” and “The Hobbit:The Battle of the Five Armies” will show actual prints.

RelexedNYC: What features do you recall being full width there? I wonder if they were imax film DMR’s. I think the lenses attached to the dlp’s can’t do full width on that screen. PS-I found the 3d of Hobbit Teaser so much better than the “average/typical 3d” of Guardians ….which was still a really good movie.

Fingers crossed the laser IMAX upgrade happens soon- digital IMAX presentation of Guardians of the Galaxy was incredibly disappointing, with the image not even filling the screen side-to-side like it used to, probably 10 feet of blank borders on the left and right. Coupled with the fact that films not shot in IMAX never fill the screen top to bottom, this made the image essentially look like a mistake. 3D was fine, but slightly dim.

The IMAX screen is huge, but using probably 50% or less of it to show a film makes the only benefit to seeing a film there the reserved seating.

Bow Tie only programs the Ziegfeld. The theater was not part of the Clearview sale.

After Intersteller is the last IMAX film in 70MM film.

The reason why most Regal Theatres that had Dolby Atmos elected to show Think Like A Man Too in that auditorium instead at Kaufman, Court Street. Which is sad that they showed that in RPX and the film is recorded only in Dolby Digital 5.1 It should of been showed in a regular auditorium

Saw Godzilla in Atmos there when my Godzilla IMAX show got cancelled due to mechanical problems. Miss the 70MM Imax, the current IMAX Digital is slightly bigger than baby IMAX.

Jersey Boys is playing at the Ziegfeld, but Bow Tie Cinemas didn’t installed Atmos. The best flagship theatre in the city needs the sound upgrade.

Hello-

I can’t stand the reclining seats the 84th multiplex has. for one if you a big person and I don’t mean overweight just big your leg is constantly pressing up against the button with opens the chair. its almost impossible if you are a big person to just sit in the chair in a regular fashion comfortably.

also the pricing at 84th St. is highway robbery. ticket prices for 1st run theaters in Manhattan are already to high. yet the 84 St. forces you to pay more for a “reserved seat” even if there are only 5 people in the theater.

It’s time for AMC to renovate this theater and put in reclining seats like its sister theater the 84th street 6. It’s also common in other AMC theaters in the US to see a movie the way the director intended it to be. How are the other screens compared to the IMAX screen? When did the IMAX open?

I was here a few weeks ago to see “Godzilla” in Theatre 1. Went there or the Dolby ATMOS. Just say they royally messed up the projection of the movie. The picture did not take up the screen with black borders on top, bottom & sides. Seems as though the switching back and forth between 3D to 2D the proper adjustments were not done. Once the film started I was told nothing could be done. We were given passes but now the Lincoln Square is not a sure bet on presentation and this was considered one of the premier theaters in NYC. AMC has ruined this theater for me. It is getting harder in NYC to see a decent movie presentation.

IMAX ‘laser’ will be true 4K – so yes the resolution will be improved.

‘Jersey Boys’ here at the Lincoln Square 13 is only one out of two East Coast theaters that are presenting the film in Dolby Atmos.

For Interstellar…. but not for Hobbit 3?

relaxednyc

Unfortunately, the IMAX here has seemingly converted to digital. Current presentation of EDGE OF TOMORROW is presented in dual-projector 2k digital, slightly dimmer than the usual 15/70. Really unfortunate, as this was the only IMAX in the city projecting film.

As I understand it, they’ll be keeping the 15/70 projectors for INTERSTELLAR, after which they’ll be retired. And the IMAX is due for the laser projector upgrade once they’re ready, which should solve the dimness issue, if not the resolution.

Same here, GaryCohen. It’s been a long time since i went to an Imax movie there. I mostly go to my nearest theater which sadly is a Digital Imax that is not as tall as this one.

I’ve only been to the IMAX part of this enormous theater. It is without a doubt the best theater I’ve ever been in. Not only does it have the biggest IMAX screen I’ve seen, but the sound is extraordinary. Saw Man of Steel there last summer and the sound was so loud, I could actually feel the vibrations. In recent years I’ve seen the aforementioned Man of Steel, as well as Superman Returns, Dark Knight Rises, Star Trek Into Darkness, Skyfall, the Hobbit films, etc. By the way, check out the view of the street as you go up or come down that enormous escalator to the IMAX, very impressive. Hands down, this IMAX is the best place in New York to see a large scale film. I can only imagine what the new Godzilla will be like there next summer.
