I would like to see this place re-opened and re-modeled. It wasn’t that old when it closed. I remember when they first opened this place.

Kelly,

Let’s hope that someone buys it who has the resources in which to properly renovate it. I’d like to see it go back to being the way it was originally, although I’m much too young to remember that!

I remember riding the T out to this theatre.

This is an awesome drive-in. Being the last in Allegheny County, I highly recommend coming here for a show on summer’s evening!

This theatre’s status should be changed to “Closed & Demolished”. I vaguely remember coming here as a kid. I think they showed kids matinees, but I’m not 100% sure on this. If it did close in 1993, then I wouldn’t have come here as an adult (I got my driver’s license that year).

I remember this theatre well. In my teens and early twenties, this was a nice place to see a show. I thought it was better than the theatres at the mall. But towards the end, it became run-down and rather crummy!

My husband and I now mainly go to the theatres in Squirrel Hill.

Wasn’t this the same theater that was at Monroeville Mall?

This theatre is going on hiatus until after Thanksgiving. They will then be showing MY KID COULD PAINT THAT. I enjoy the films shown here, at the Manor, and the Squirrel Hill.

By the way, when was this place built and when was it converted to 5 screens?

Like the nearby Manor, they play a lot of “indie” films that you can’t see elsewhere in the Pittsburgh area.

Not great, but not a bad place to see a show. They play a lot of “indie” flicks that you can’t see anywhere else in the area.

Oh, that’s right. The Walmart is where this place stood. When we were teen-agers, my brother, who is two years older than I, used to come here with his friends. Sometimes he’d let me tag along. I’d been here with my friends too. It closed when I was 19 and I remember that this place did good business.

I can remember when this place first opened. My brother and I drove out here during the opening week. That was the only time I was ever at this theatre, although I’d been to the drive-in when I was a teenager. I honestly believe that the drive-in was a lot more fun.

It was a huge miscalculation to build this place. I wonder if the drive-in would still be in business today if it wasn’t bulldozed to build this hulk.

This shows what proper investment and promotion can do. It’s a little out of the way, but I’ve enjoyed coming here. It is only a short walk from the “T”. I went with one of my girlfriends to see HAIRSPRAY here this past weekend.

The website should be http://thehollywoodtheatre.com/
