larry2, I agree, though I hope LM has no current legal problems as a result of those old photos.

The old photo of the Majestic Theater looked like it came from his personal collection.

Thanks, John. I love you and Bway and Lost Memory and NativeForestHiller and Panzer65 and all you regulars on CT.

I thought Warren was trying to insult me by labelling me Grover Whalen, but, when I looked up who Grover Whalen was, I saw it was really a compliment.

larry2, let’s not write off Lost Memory as lost to CT, just yet.

You’re welcome. I know LM sent me a photo of the old Majestic Theater on Seneca Avenue between Greene Ave and Harman St in Ridgewood, that I printed out, and shared with friends and family.

I might have something from spring 2004. I would have to check.

Not so far, at least.

I walked by the Ridgewood Theatre at about 10 a.m. this past Friday June 18 2010. No change since my last visit on May 21, 2010, except that the stuff between the outer lobby gate and inner lobby doors was gone.

Eloquently put, East Coast Rocker. Thanks.

I’m not sure about the plans for turning the RKO Madison into a parking garage.

I just looked at the Michigan Theatre photos. It’s surreal. It still looks like an old theater inside, except when you look down and see the parking lot. Just like the RKO Keith’s Richmond Hill. It still looks like an old theatre inside, until you look down and see a flea market instead of aisles and rows of theatre seats.

Good point, Panzer65. Thanks.

You’ve reminded me that most of the development of Ridgewood was brought about by the extension of the Myrtle Avenue el from Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues, first to Fresh Pond Road, then finally to Metropolitan Avenue.

You’re welcome, Panzer65.

Parking is difficult on Myrtle Avenue in Ridgewood, but that’s no reason to turn the Ridgewood Theatre into a parking garage.

Thanks, Bway and John D. I’ll walk by the Ridgewood the morning of this coming Friday (June 18 2010), observe, and post my usual report both here and on the Ridgewood Theatre page on Bushwick Buddies.

My pleasure, AlbanyGregg. You’re most welcome.

Welcome, AlbanyGregg. There were the Loews Gates Theatre, at Gates Avenue and Bway, and the Monroe Theater across Howard Avenue from the RKO Bushwick, at 4 Howard Avenue. Around the corner was the Century / Shubert Theatre on Monroe Street. There was the Loews Casino DeKalb at Bway and DeKalb. And there was the Colonial Theatre at Bway and Moffat St.

I think all these theatres have pages on Cinema Treasures.

Thanks for getting on Cinema Treasures, EveH. Good to read you. Welcome. My St. Brigid School classmate, Charles Labita, lived on your block of Madison Street. We attended St. Brigid from 1961 (first grade) through 1969. Perhaps you knew him.

I’m glad you enjoyed your recent visit to Ridgewood. Rudy’s is the only German bakery left in Ridgewood that I know about. I gave them my regards myself in a summer 2006 or 2007 visit.
