This one was at about 1960 Filbert Highway (US 321). Oddly enough, it seems to have been incorporated into the neighboring cemetary.

Awesome, SiliconSam. I guess that means the Fort Rock was at my location.

AndyCallahanMajorMajor commented about Auto Theatre on Nov 18, 2010 at 9:20 pm

Either the Auto or the Fort Rock was located east of town on US 21; the address was roughly 2875 Cherry Road. The outline is still there and it looks like it’s some sort of prefabricated building store. The projection booth might still be sitting out in the field.

Possibly. Where’d you find out that name? I got Apalachee from a slightly dubious list of Florida drive-ins. Whatever the case may be, this theater definitely did exist.

AndyCallahanMajorMajor commented about Edray Theatre on Nov 18, 2010 at 7:42 am

I contacted a long-time Macclenny resident who informed me that the Edray was located in what is now the Crockett Building, so the theater is still standing, just modified on the exterior. The theater was at about 5 W. Macclenny Avenue. This circa 1940 picture was found on the Baker County Historical Society website and shows a perspective of the block of buildings on the first block of Macclenny.

Here is a picture and article on the Pasco Theatre. Dade City really lost a treasure when they demolished this one.

AndyCallahanMajorMajor commented about Center Theatre on Nov 15, 2010 at 11:32 am

It appears that the Alcazar and the also-listed Center were the same theater. It was also called the Roxy at one point. The Alcazar moved into a converted grain warehouse in 1926 and its final incarnation, the Center, closed in 1977.

A Palace Theatre opened up at 1019 3rd Avenue South in either 1925 or 1926. I’m not sure if the Palace later became the Roxy or if there really were two separate theaters located next to each other. You know how some of these old addresses can be…

Think anyone can find a new link to that 1948 picture? It’s hard to do a search for Boston, seeing as everything gets lost in the Boston, MA search results. I’m not too far from Boston, GA at the moment and would be glad to pay a visit if we can identify the theater building.

Address should be changed to roughly 311 W. Jackson Street and status should be Demolished.
