Too bad this theater lacks 4d which the ewalk has right across the street
I love my imax 3D and reald 3D
Now it’s allowed. Moviepass merged with moviefone this past week. It’s been ten years since Imax first came here in digital form as well as digital 3d the year after. Flash forward to now and 3d is not doing well not only at the cinema but at home. Premium 2d formats like imax and even dolby have outgrossed 3d and 2d dolby and imax recently as people are getting sick of 3d.
AMC didn’t stop Moviepass here. It was the other way around.
I don’t know whether they’ve converted some of the screens to lounge seating, but the seat count is way down from what it was. Looks to me like the current total seat count is around 3369. That doesn’t include wheelchair spots, but it does include the accompany wheelchair seats. The IMAX #1 screen is 312, the Dolby #8 is 221. Two other screens (probably #13 and #18) are 301 and 256. The other 21 screens have 50 to 152 seats.
I don’t know how they can stop Moviepass because they don’t know Moviepass is being used. Moviepass essentially puts money onto a credit card. AMC doesn’t know Moviepass is being used as it’s just a payment method. Moviepass can’t be used for IMAX or Dolby screens, but it’s Moviepass that prevents that.
In terms of advance ticket sales, the next Avengers movie has already broken all previous AMC records. After the first 72 hours of advance ticket sales at AMC, Infinity War is 257.6% ahead of Black Panther, 715.5% ahead of Captain America: Civil War and 1106.5% ahead of Avengers: Age of Ultron. So for everyone who complains that Hollywood is only making sequels, prequels and comic book movies, that’s because they sell.
At that rate, adjusted for inflation, it would end on par with “MEN IN BLACK”.

Moviepass is not allowed at this theater anymore…
Has anyone seen the new amc policy trailers? I miss the amc characters…
20 years ago this theater was being built by moving the old empire to the side to become the lobby and the rest is history.
I wonder if tourists in times square prefer this theater over the regal?
So I was able to get seats in row D, the fourth row back. Judging by the number of seats shown on Fandango these are small seats with probably space between rows. I got the 8pm show in auditorium 13. For anyone familiar with the theater will I be too close?
Do you know how many admissions are achieved per year at AMC Empire 25 ? For example, in 2016.
Amen. It’s the largest in the nyc metro area by screen size and seats. It’s also AMCs third entry into the area following the Rockaway and morristown theaters (not counting general cinema and loews cineplex acquisitions) .
This website is about all movie theatres, not just cinema treasures. As for the AMC Empire, it is one of the best theatres in the country today, and the preservation of the Empire Theatre structure was a brilliant way of incorporating the old with the new. The golden age of movie theatres is long over, but this theatre at least has preserved a small piece of it. Why criticize a movie theatre that at least salvaged a beautiful and historic movie theatre and uses it as its focal point?
Of all the generic multiplexes in the world, vindanpar pointed out this classic historic beauty as the target of shame. How clueless is that?
vindanpar – the reality is Cinema Treasures is a preservation site of movie theaters. Grant you the number of treasures are in the minority but all hold treasured memories for someone.
vindanpar, the historic lobby of this theatre alone is worth the listing.
How are these megaplexes Cinema Treasures?
The whole thing is a joke discussing these places.
Tearing them down will be like tearing down a supermarket.
How is this theater compared to amc in Rockaway?
The auditoriums in the E-Walk might appear smaller on Fandango because of the lower amount of seats. That’s not due to the screens being smaller but due to the leather recliner seats, which take up more space than the regular seats in the AMC Empire 25.
Both theaters have reserved seating though so just get your ticket early.
Looks like I found the answer to my own question.

How would you say they compare from a technology perspective? The E-Walk seems to have smaller screen sizes in the regular auditoriums. And what about their projection technology, do you know if they use 4K projectors for regular 2D movies? I believe AMC uses Sony digital 4k.
The Regal E-Walk is MUCH superior to the AMC Empire 25
They just got new leather recliner seats a few months ago. It’s newly renovated.
It has less screens (13 instead of 25) meaning less other movies playing meaning less crowds. Though some people like a bigger selection.
It does not have any bed bug reports.
Now that doesn’t mean that it has to remain that way. Empire 25 can renovate and upgrade and get on level with E-Walk by getting new seats and renovate. But so far they didn’t and do not seem to be planning that.
I’d chose Regal E-Walk any day over Empire 25.
BTW I have nothing against AMC. They have nice theaters like Kips Bay 15 and others. But the Empire 25 is just gross. The seats and floors are old, poorly maintained plus the bed buf reports. E-Walk just renovated a bunch of their theaters. I don’t see how it’s not superior.
Some decents seats for 5:15 2D showing but it seems it will be in one of their smaller auditoriums.
