This is good news…since G-Force is doing well, especially with the 3-D version making for much of the grosses. Might as well go see a morning show to save money on a 3-D movie or use a gift card to save cash. I hope they also use it for non-3D movies as well.
Hallelujah!!!
G-force 3D tickets on sale starting tuesday on movietickets…
Maybe AMC should consider this…

500 Days of Summer finally arrives at this theater this weekend, as well as G.I. Joe and Julie and Julia. Next movie I’m probably seeing is District 9.
I used IMDB for the schedule, and X-Games was on the list. Most of the moviegoers who frequent this theater are young and affluent, so they would welcome watching this kinda stuff. This isn’t the first time an X-Games was made into a movie, it was released before as an IMAX 2D movie called “Extreme X”, which did ok.
How do you know this? And, if true, what a lackluster 3D debut for Rockaway. I wonder how many people even heard of this movie. Unless you’re into this type of entertainment, I don’t see a big rush to see it. But…it’s a beginning and I welcome it!
The first 3D movie to be shown at this theater will be X-Games 3D: The Movie, which will play for one week only before The Final Destination opens.
one auditorium is good enough. it will be like clifton commons without the thx branding.
no no.. just that one auditorium.. i believe it was 7.
came back from harry potter 6 and presentation was good.
cool. will all 16 screens be upgraded that weekend?
so i’ve found out that this theatre is getting sony 4k projector and will be ready in time for the avatar day.. meaning august 21st. no delays anymore
this weekend the hurt locker is playing…hopefully it does decent business as other movies based on terrorism bombed with the exception of Body of Lies, which had a decent crowd. I plan on seeing Harry Potter either tomorrow or Thursday and will come back with how the presentation went. Can’t wait for the 3D too.
plan 9 from outer space with rifftrax is playing at this theater in a few weeks, as well as more ncm fathom events and the usual hollywood fare; im upset that not a lot of good indie and foreign films haven’t done well this year as opposed to a few years ago, when juno, pan’s labyrinth, and slumdog did moderate business.
Nope.
Does any of the screens at the Rockaway feature side-masking? By side-masking I’m talking about the screen’s masking opening up at the sides for scope (2.35: 1) presentation as opposed to AMC’s typical top-down masking (screen shrinking at the top/bottom for scope).
AMC has top-notch lobbies, exteriors, but the way they build their screens leave little to be desired. I just hope they’ve made an exception.
I hope they install the digital projector so that they can show footage of the new Avatar movie on Avatar Day, which is August 21st. This is one week before the new Final Destination 3D movie. It will also be shown in 2D.
Has THX visited this theater? if they did, then they would complain about the false alarms and blurry projection but rave about the loud and clear surround sound as well as the soundproofing.
It’s not just the lack of stadium seating but their screens just don’t deliver the same impact that Rockaway’s large, slightly curved screens do…which is why I’m so looking forward to them adding the 3D technology to give us that “immersive” feeling. Who needs IMAX anyway? We just have to be patient. The digital revolution has found its way into music (CDs), video (DVDs), TV channels, and now movie theaters. And 3D appears to be a natural extension of the latter. Read MarketSaw’s piece on “The Year of 3D: A Massive Paradigm Shift Is Happening”. Regarding Parsippany’s pricing, Clearview does have that arrangement with Cablevision for two free admissions on Tuesdays and discounts the rest of the week, day or evening, for those who qualify.
Yeah, I haven’t been to Parsippany in more than three years since Rockaway opened. One reason is the lack of stadium seating, which this theater has, and also no cheap morning showtimes before noon, which AMC uses now everyday.
With the extra revenue they could have pulled in from “Hannah Montana”, “Journey to the Center of the Earth”, “Fly Me to the Moon”, “Bolt”, “My Bloody Valentine 3D”, “Coraline”, “Monsters vs. Aliens”, “Up”, and “Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs”, they could have probably paid for, at least, the one digital system they plan to install. By the way, one screen ain’t gonna cut it. These movies are so successful that the overlap has actually hurt them and sometimes one had to be bumped to show another. Parsippany continues to be ahead of the curve with two of the six digital screens capable of 3D and, with the money they’re making, will probably add more.
Looks like G-Force won’t be in 3d this weekend. It’s on one screen with Close Captions and Descriptive video, and on one screen as well. Seems that Rockaway is falling behind in the times when it comes to the latest in technological wonder. Seems that AMC needs to learn a lesson from its two sister theaters in North Jersey (both 16 screeners with a total of 3 3-D screens) and get those 3-D projectors now!!!
Checking movietickets.com for any friday showtimes for G-Force….they’ll probably put it up later in the day or tomorrow while the 3-D equipment is being installed. At this theater, several posters advertise some films to be shown in 3D, such as Xmas Carol, Final Destination, and others. But no avatar poster…hopefully the presentation by Cameron to the big wigs that own the cinema chains will know what will come to their theaters come December 18th!!!
How is work going on the digital transition? Seems that Harry Potter is hopping at this theater, as well as the live concerts and movie events.
