I thought that was the case Dave,The New Princess/Crescent had our Loews City Managers office and the booth and screening room, and the E-Z Finance Company on the second floor.Crescent Amusements offices must have been on the top 2 floors, I never went above the 2nd.floor.Thanks for the info.
Thanks for the updated info Dave I have been down “Arcade Alley” many times, I believe that that is the true name of the Alley. I know of the stage entrance you are talking about so some of the building does remain. Good to have another Nashville person on C.T.I will check it out further next time I go to town.
I am interested Dave, I am a Nashville Native and former theatre Manager would love to hear more history of the Knickerbocker, I am sure you know of Harveys Dept. store that was across from the theatre.
Thanks Dave nice history, I never went to this theatre, but I did work down the street at the 2nd Princess, later Crescent and then Loews Crescent in the 70,s and early 80,s.I saw your post on the Loews Vendome and about you writing for Mike Slate I have see his work on NPT Ch 8 he knows his Nashville History. If you have any stories of the 2nd Princess or Crescent please post them on the Loews Crescent page.
More info on the Vendome, I have found a old Newspaper ad for the theatre that lists Staub A. Sheetz Manager,Allen Fox, Treasurer, Ivo Miller, Musical Director, and Chas. Johnson, Machinist. The was from the Nashville American date unknown. Also another source states that Loews bought this theatre in 1920.The theatre was already 33 years old then,as posted above Loews owned and ran this theater till the August 1967 fire, making it 80 years young when it burned.
I think its O.K. Mike not that many people post on this page.I have seen a few of my old time buddies but they are the same they are doing something else now and do not think about the old days that much.To each his own they say.
