According to imdb.com,The Good,The Bad & The Ugly was originally released in 1967,just a few months before the MPAA rating system took place. Upon its reissue in 1969,it was resubmitted and given an M rating.(precursor to the GP/PG ratings)
When it came to video in the ‘80s(presumably 1989),the rating was changed to an R due to violence. Today,it plays more like a PG-13,if anything.

MikeRogers,DOC SAVAGE was rated G. I have the one sheet poster autographed by Ron Ely,himself. I saw it at the South Gate drive-in in South Gate,California. The second feature was WHAT’S UP,DOC? with Barbara Streisand & Ryan O'Neal. Also G rated.

According to IMDB.com,THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME was presented in 35mm 4-track stereo(magnetic prints) and Dolby Stereo(optical prints). Never in 70mm or with 6-track stereo.

Went here on New Years Day to see SHERLOCK HOLMES. The lobby and arcade areas are quite nice but the new rocking chair seats in the auditorium we were in(#2 in the front of the building)are highly uncomfortable(so said my mom)and the handicapped stall was too narrow for my wheelchair. Presentation is still just ok.

Still a bargain, though, for first run movies @ $5.00,half off all day Wednesday.

Mann Theatres ran this drive-in in the ‘70s & early '80s. Saw the 1979 rerelease of “Bedknobs and Broomsticks” here with “Hot Lead & Cold Feet” here.

THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG opens December 11th @ Arclight Hollywood.

This is the first time, that i can recall, that a Disney produced animated film has NOT opened at the El Capitan since it opened.

Actually,i think AVATAR will be going to the AVCO. Being a Fox movie and, looking at theGCC/AMC to MANN ratio of Fox movies,AVCO is a safer bet. but that’s just me and, lord knows,i’m no expert. :)

The Vermont was never an Edwards drive-in to my knowledge,it had always been an Aladdin/Pacific drive-in.

OT rant:Dammit! I don’t live in L.A. County anymore(haven’t since 1977)and can’t get access to the public library system without one.

How can i get to see old newspaper movie ads from the LA Times online? You can PM me,if you’d like.

Went here a few times while living in the north Houston suburb of Aldine between May 1977 and March 1979.

Saw CLOSE ENCOUNTERS here. The film broke at one point and it was, like,a 10 minute wait. needless to say,no one was pleased.

Saw JAWS 2 here but we had to leave because my mom got a coke accidently dumped on her from the roof of the car where my sister and her friends were sitting. We missed GRAY LADY DOWN, a WW II movie. no biggie, the movie kinda sucks really.

Pacific Theatres ran this drive-in until its closure in 1989. All the Pacific drive-ins in the San Bernardino County closed at,roughly, the same time.

Ok,exactly how big was this theatre? From the pictures of the outside of the building,it looks no bigger than one of your average multiplex shoebox theatres.

I went to Pacific Boulevard Elementary School in the early ‘70s and this theatre was on the route to and from school.

So were the California and Park theatres.

Well, obviously,it won’t be used during the day, when school is in session, unless they build a retractable roof so that it can.

Maybe,it’ll only be used for school functions like graduation.

Otherwise…i don’t know.

They’re listed in the Independent Theatre section in today’s Los Angeles Times. But they have no movies or times listed.

richjr37 commented about TCL Chinese Theatre on Aug 23, 2009 at 12:53 pm

So the prestige pictures from Disney would go to the El Capitan while the Chinese gets the scraps? unlikey!

Here’s a thought. What if a potential buyer wants the main theatreonly but not the 6-plex? I assume it would it would be an “all or nothing” package deal. But,in this particular scenario, who would/should get what? Or does that just ask for another Hollywood Galaxy disaster?
