no matter how big my tv gets no matter how great the surround sound or the high def

my favorite thing bar none in the whole world is sitting in a theater as the lights go down.

i still offer an adult movie ticket for 5 dollars, 3 dollars for matinee children and seniors

yet no one comes and becuse of that the movies will go the way of my dignity, kills me to think i am going to extremes to create an experiance like the ones i had as a child, these same things that made me fall in love with movies. and NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO one cares at all, and in the end people will pile into regal for saw 12 while i have 4 or 5 people for casablanca

i worked for regal for 7 years, between 3 theaters, the bigger the company gets the less they care about the product, i went to see W. at the theater i use to run, got dirty looks from former employees, the concessionist was way to buisy talking to friends in line to deal with me, my soda was flat. no manager was to be found, the movie was out of frame the 1st 3 reels and the mens room looked like animals were grazing in there right before i came to use it.

i remember working at amc and regal and caring what people thought of our little 7 or 8 plex, coming to work looking clean and putting alot into how i present my films (except for the 2 mis splices in barn yard that got me written up)

im not giving up. im working on a double feature for december, i secured the date and im gonna do a show the way i want to do a show, somthing cult and fun. now im just looking got sponsors so i dont have to do it alone, pack the show with some great prizes and old trailers and once i get the 2 movies that work the best i have an artist whos gonna do a great grindhouse kinda poster for me

the hope is everything comes toghter and i dont have to go broke but if the end is near i may as well go out with a bang

sadest part is this is prob my last stop, i left amc when i was 17 to go to regal to be a manager and didnt give 2 weeks cause i was in high school and thought i had it all figured out. i lost my job at regal after 7 years becuse a girl “hahaha wish i knew what i know now” and no matter what i put in, what i learned. if my current digs decides to pull the plug then looks like thats it for this magical mystery tour

its like trying to beat back the ocean with a stick. no matter how hard you try no matter what you give or how you come at it the waves just keep crashing….hahaha ok that was a lil dramatic

honest answer is despite having 3 dollar and 5 dollar tickets in the economic mess, despite programing 1st run films and fantastic classic trailers and drive in ad’s from my collection and once a month a 35mm print of a classic film

the powers that be do little to promote or advertise and slowly cut back the show times so its frustrating becuse i love what i do but what i do doesnt love me these days

timing a shutter i do know, the guy who trained me when i was 17 at amc marlton was like yoda and ill never forget the film on the platter was the pledge with jack nichelson and i was cared to death i screwed up theater 4

i pick up peices as i go and try to soak up as much info as i can, to many people just learn that bare minimum to get by and not be noticed by the amc’s and regals

no word on the ventnor for months but i realy havent had my ear to the ground i have my own theater issues to wade through

nerwall16 commented about Westmont Theatre on Sep 3, 2008 at 1:04 pm

people show up every night cinemark does a classic feature, exhumed films is a draw with there cult and double bills. every month the later shows for my classic series at pitman grows

if people know its out there they are more willing to try somthing new….or in this case old

i have very little budget to promote films it all goes to live theater but i have taken a page from the old fashion carnival barkers i talk with great passion about 35mm film prints and my classic trailers and the shows which i labor over and it rubs off on people

movie houses today are missing that belly full of fire

they could make a killing it they created a revival house and promoted it as such, getting investors and the historical society on board, being so near philly is can be a prime spot for film on the east coast and great for the community
