In early 2017 new construction started on the drive in property. The Brentwood Place Apartments are now at this location.

I have a question, wouldn’t this drive in have a Ranger, Tx address instead of Strawn, Texas? The old abandoned Ranger Hill Truck Stop Cafe across the highway from the drive in has a Ranger address? All other information that I have seen on this drive in has it being located in Ranger, Texas.

I believe the 1987 topo view is of the Midway drive in down the road from the Mustang drive in.

Looks like the old ticket booth is still standing on the property.

In early 2019 a RV Park was opened up on the old drive in property and the concession building was torn down.

The tower support poles stayed standing for many years after the drive in closed. The property stayed vacant up until 2012, when different businesses were built on the land.

I believe the Reddy Ice company is actually on the drive in property. The ANF Auto Finance and the Nationwide Tools are on each side of the entrance. Reddy Ice is using the old foundation of the drive in’s marquee for its sign.

The drive in was named for the High School mascot.

The majority of the drive in property was a Wal-Mart. It closed when a Super Wal-Mart was built further down the highway.

The concession building was still there in early 2018.

I don’t think this is the correct marquee for the Corral drive in located in Lubbock. The movies listed on the marquee are not the correct time period for the operation of this drive in.??

Does anyone know where the second screen was situated on the property? From the aerials I have looked at, a second screen area was never shown.

I believe this address is for the Camp Bowie drive in. The Sunset drive in was located at Live Oak Road and Garmon Drive (Hwy. 84). The aerial view above is the Camp Bowie drive in.

The screen tower was torn down sometime between 2006 and 2007. The concession building was gone by early 2000, only the foundation remains. The metal frame of the marque remains standing as of July 2018.

Went by the Town and Country on July 18th hoping to see a movie, but they are only open Friday through Sunday during the summer. I haven’t been by the drive in a few years, the outside of the concession building doesn’t look as nice as it used to. They have added two small screens, which are back to back of each other, to the left of the ticket booth as you enter the lot. There is nothing separating the screens from each other. The two lot areas are small with their own projection building.

driveinfan commented about Bay Drive-In on May 18, 2018 at 3:05 pm

I have some different information on this drive in. It was called the Bay drive in and opened June 1951. I have attached the opening ad from the newspaper. It was Bay City’s first drive in. The theater was located off of Highway 60 and Horn Road. The first movie shown was “Tulsa”. It used Simplex sound and projection equipment. The original screen measured 40 x 50.

driveinfan commented about Round-Up Drive-In on May 18, 2018 at 9:32 am

The Round Up drive in sustained major damage from Hurricane Carla in 1961. It remained closed until 1969 when it was finally repaired and reopened under the name of the Brazos Twin. In 1982, the drive in was damaged again. This time by Hurricane Alicia and was never repaired or reopened. The last operator was Ralph Wiest. All though there was no activity on the property, most of the facilities were still there into the early 90’s. The drive in was located between El Lago Road and Larkspur Road on Brazosport Blvd N. The large metal building on the property was once a dance hall place. In 2017 a new business came in. The concrete foundation of the old concession bldg. is still visible.

As of March 2018, the area of course is more grown up with weeds and cactus. The old ticket booth finally fell down. Can still see some of the old screen tower on the ground. The concession building is still standing, but in bad shape.
