I hope this catches on all over the Country, make your calls before entering the Theatre, not in the middle of the movie. Stop thinking about yourself and learn to respect others around you.
This theatre was run by Dave & Henry Keffer, Dave also owned the Rainbow Roller Rink on the Carlise Pike outside of Mechanicsburg, Pa.He later had the roller rink on Derry Street in Harrisburg, Pa. He also had the Paxtang Theatre. He always had his favorite hobby as a sound tech.
You need to get your facts straight, It ran until 69 and was run by Walter S. Finch Jr.This is where I learned to run movies from Walt’s brother Claude Finch. I was there till the end, may have even been early 70’s.
Nowadays they can’t even use thier imagination for anything. All they can seem to do is remakes of other peoples ideas. Also they love this stupid digital b.s. because it puts quality projectionist like myself out of work.
I don’t agree with longislandmovies on a few points. This time he is right, my family has been in the theatre business for years, and not once were we charged a percentage on concessions, that is where we all make our money.
They don’t care if it’s the most beautiful theatre ever built, if they want it gone, it’s gone. At least it wont be a parking lot. Seems funny nobody has a job yet they want office and retail space. Join the long list of beautiful theatres to bite the dust. Damn shame is what it is.
God I really feel old. We ran this at the Warner in Pittsburgh, Pa. I wish you guys would quit bringing out these aniversary’s makes me feel older than all get out.Great job just kidding.
I was the last projectionist to have the honor of working this beauty on it’s last showing. No it was not divided it closed as a single screen theatre balcony and all was intact.God how I miss this place. Many wonderfull years there.
This theatre was run by the Troutman family, the same people who ran the Capitol theatre in Bloomsburg, Pa. into the ground. I did help with the installation of the cinema center but they just don’t care. You can’t charge $5.00 a hotdog in Central Pa. just because that is what they pay in New York,, they tried it guess what it failed. I feel sorry for the people nice area.
I was one of the projectionist there for a long time, I would hope they would keep it open, but one never knows what goes through thier minds. Great Theatre my 3rd all time favorite.
Come on owners stand up and fight, It’s film Company greed they want to cut out all the film people so they can put more in thier pockets. You don’t have to go with thier stupid digital B.S.So don’t. FIGHT THEM,
The old projection booth was like walking up the stairway to heaven, I don’t ever recall a theatre that had that many steps. The booth had a shower in it because in the early days the projectionist’s were given the choice of a elavator or a shower, they took the latter.I used to run alot of the rock movies there once in awhile as a relief projectionist.
Ted Mann, must be related to Joe Cinnemette..
The Christie projectors are only worth $10.00 each. High class junk is all they are.

Digital is a very dirty word, don’t go there if you run 35mm right you will have no major problems.
I am glad it is a church and not a parking lot, like so many others have become.

Way to go I hope you have alot of success. Maybe this will start a new trend and let a new generation see how much fun we had growing up good luck.
Just like the demand for cineramma, and 70mm, that’s really popular now. Just another soon to fade away fad, it wont last.
Thanks for helping these people out Ken and Bob.

I'am glad they did'nt tear it down for a parking lot, he would have written a ten chapter book. Save them all.

They probably got sick from the movie, what a piece of garbage, I feel sorry for anyone who would get scared at something thios dumb.
Would have loved to see it in it’s heyday, bet she was a real beauty.
We ran Batman 2 at the uptown in DC.it was in 35 mm. not 70mm.
At least it did'nt turn into a parking lot, like so many others. Way to go Joplin.
