amcbayaza13 and xbs2034: Thanks a lot! If LS13 is gonna show it for one week, It will be another sad story to not have laser by that time.And I may not go watch it if this film is only played @AMNH. I have been there many times, it will be weird to go there just to a 45 min film.lol

Neither the Museum of Natural History nor the IMAX website says anything about Beautiful Planet locations yet.
Typically what happens with documentaries like this actually produced by IMAX themselves (not some nature documentary company) is they play in the NYC multiplex locations for a week or two before moving onto a longer run at museum sites.

It’s really sad to know laser IMAX won’t be ready for BvS :( we have been waiting for a long time, and It’s very likely laser won’t happen before this summer.
10 Cloverfield Lane IMAX tickets already on sale for March 10th on, and the seating chart is the exact same as current IMAX set-up (whereas they will change it with the renovation). So yeah, barring a surprise turn-around, not happening for Batman v Superman.
Unless they do it between BvS and the start of the summer movie season with Civil War (which also has scenes shot with IMAX cameras), don’t bet on it happening for a while.
As for the Museum of Natural History, it just shows nature/science documentaries, never Hollywood features.
If you want to go see 70mm IMAX go to the Lefrak imax..the only place left in NYC to show real film on a giant screen.
Still no news about the renovation, Deadpol is scheduled to Wed. now, so I believe the renovation will not begin next week. This left the earliest starting date to be Monday Feb 22th—– probably the last chance to have laser before BvS.

Lmao yeah I did and it made me think of LS13 and if they are getting the upgrade. Really don’t want to see it in fake imax like star wars but I probably will because I’m weak.

Any update on when(if) they are getting the laser projection system? It’s no worth the money to see any Imax films here because they are all in Liemax format and only use a small portion of the screen.
Actually this was originally opened in November 94 under the “Sony Theatres” nameplate. In April of 1994 Sony, which owned Loews at the time announced all of the Loews Theatres would be renamed Sony Theatres, all of the signs were changed to Sony for all of the existing theatres here in NYC except the Oriental in Brooklyn, which luckily did not have to suffer that particular indignity. The largest regular auditorium in this complex was named “Loews” as a homage to the original Loew’s 72nd Street theatre. About 3 years after the name change Sony Retail Entertainment decided to go back to using the Loews Theatres name again. This theatre and the Metreon in San Francisco were among the last complexes to be re branded from Sony to Loews.
AMC owns the Loews name so they can keep it if they wish. When AMC has totally redone other multiplexes with recliner chairs, etc. at least sometimes they did remove the Loews name. This one was built as a flagship of Loews & is well known in NYC by that name, so it could perhaps stay even if the whole theater is redone.

The only renovation that has been talked about is laser projection and new seating in the IMAX theater. I don’t think anything has been planed for the rest of the complex. It would be nice if they left some of the more “high end” theaters with the Loews name unless AMC is required by the sale to change that at some point.
Are they dropping the Loews name chain wide (other sites such as the Orpheum and Kips Bay still include it as well)? Also if the renovation includes changing the signage, I wonder if they will finally fix up some of the other screens a bit, and maybe close the entire complex for a bit.
Once the renovation is done, the Loews name will be gone and it will simply be called AMC Lincoln Square. Just the exterior signage will just say AMC. The Loews name will live on in the auditorium.
AMCbayplaza13, that’s old article/info from when laser debuted at the TCL Chinese theater early last year (which was the second site to get it). All the other sites mentioned other than Lincoln Square already have laser, and I think there are around 20 worldwide at this point including a couple which just did the renovation at the start of the year.
Y'all might notice that the CEO Richard Gelfond told THR. There’s been plenty of talk at this week’s expects to see about 15 laser installations by the end of this year, including key destinations such as Empire Leicester Square in London, AMC Universal CityWalk in Los Angeles, AMC Loews Lincoln Square in New York, AMC Metreon in San Francisco and Pacific Science Center in Seattle
I’m sure you’re talking about Eileen Campbell, cetrata. She never gives a definitive answer to people who ask her about Lincoln Square getting laser. She’s been giving them the same answer for months now. LS13 made the worst decision in removing that projector so fast. It’s like they couldn’t wait to. They must have forgotten about directors like Christopher Nolan who prefers to show his films on IMAX 70mm.
@ACS12 Unfortunately, I read on twitter from an imax executive lincoln square removed the projector. I suppose they could just get another projector though it seems unlikely
What if LS13 just wasn’t chosen for TFA in 70mm? It seems like only science museums and Domes were chosen for it. Not regular theaters. I’d like to know where exactly they dumped the 70mm film projector. Can’t they just get it back, if they had to?
Yeah if they had kept the 70mm projector, star wars the force awakens would have been shown in the format. Also heard at one point on twitter from an imax marketing executive that the projector has been removed.

It’s very unlikely a 70mm film will be shown at LS13 anymore, guess the 70mm projector has already been removed, otherwise they could have shown TFA in 70mm.
I believe the BvS will be in IMAX till April 14th, then the jungle book will roll out (nice trailer. must be a beautiful film to see in Laser!). Deadpool is scheduled up to Feb 15th currently, and I really hope the renovation can start on the 16th.
