This theatre goes back to when it opened in 1936 as the Underwood Theatre and later known as the Roxy before becoming the Rose Theatre in the early-1950’s. It should have AKA’s of Underwood Theatre and Roxy Theatre.
This drive-in was built by the Aho Family who also owned and operated the Regis Theatre in Stanley. This drive-in was actually located on Highway 2 in Tioga, ND 58852. It closed in 1973 when a tornado took down the screen. Today all that remains is the concrete block building that contained the projection booth, the concessions stand and the rest rooms.
The Grand Theatre goes back prior to 1926 when it seated 200. It was rebuilt in 1949 bringing the seating to 320. Since the remodel took place in 1949 it very well could have been a Quonset Hut style.
The State Theatre opened in 1931 with seating at that time given at 250. Prior to 1931 New England had two other theatres, the Grand Theatree and the Rialto Theatre.
There was a Colonial Theatre that was later known as the Paramount Theatre at 112 S. Wilson. By 1935 the Paramount was gone and the Dunn Theratre was listed at the same address. Should this theatre have AKA’s of the Colonial Theatre and Paramount Theatre?
The address is wrong on this theatre, it should be 116 Morton Avenue, Page, ND 58064. The Page Theatre opened in 1935. Google is off on its mapping for this address.
The Lric is open again. The Lyric Continues…
The Lyric Theater has maintained its presence in Park River for many decades. After being closed for the first 6 months of 2014 the Lyric’s doors reopened on July 3rd. Many updates have been made to the Lyric. In 2014
The Lyric Theatre Today the lobby and bathrooms were gutted. The ceiling was raised to it’s original height. New handicap accessible bathrooms have been installed. Also a handicap accessible door was added to the entrance. Other new additions include newer seats which were purchased form the theater in Valley City, paint, and flooring, Work to the roof was completed the end of June 2014.

professional jobbers, and the many, many volunteers who worked tirelessly on bringing the Lyric back to life.
This should be changed to open.

Cinema Flix, Valley City’s new movie theater, plans to open one day earlier than previously announced. The theater will open Thursday, Nov. 7, with two showings of Thor 2 and Free Birds, said owner Jeremy Zako. Free Birds will play at 7 p.m. in 3-D and 7:20 p.m. in 2-D on Thursday, and Thor 2 will play at 9:20 p.m. in 3-D and 9:40 p.m. in 2-D. Then, on Friday, the theater will start its regular hours, with Thor 2 and Free Birds showing twice in the afternoon and twice in the evening.

Were the Starlite and the Sundown drive-in’s one in the same? They are both listed at the same address. From 1961 on the only drive-in listed for Mandan was the Sundown Drive-In.

The Pastime Theatre was listed as open in 1925. It was still open in 1956.
This theatre should have another AKA of Munro Theatre which opened in 1914. This theatre is celebrating it’s 100th anniversary. Their updated website
It is surprising that a town of a little over 500 could support a walk-in theatre and a drive-in. The drive-in was located on Highway 2.

You must be right because the Trail Theatre don’t show up in listings until 1955 seating 320.
Strange, the Motion Picture Yearbook shows it opening in 1930 as the DelChar. Prior to that it was listed as the Bijou Theatre
The Qeunset Hut aurditorium would at least be a 1940’s build.

The Valley Drive-In was the first of the two drive-in’s in Williston. The Lake Park doesn’t show up until 1954.
This theatre has been closed for a number of years. It was no longer listed in 1979.
