Can you scan it in and post it somewhere, then link to it here?

OK, now it says Movies (First Run), but it should also say Movies (Second Run) and Movies (Film Festivals).

I’ve submitted that as a correction several times, but nobody has fixed it. The theatre will also show “The Simpsons Movie” as a first run.

I’ll pay the excessive prices at a locally-owned independent theatre, because I know they need the money. But if I’m going to AMC or a big chain, I usually stop first at CVS or 7-Eleven to buy soda or candy.

The Somerville Theatre is converting one of its outside box office windows to a walk-up ice cream window, selling Richardson’s Ice Cream from Middleton, MA.

I’d ask if there are any movies people have wanted to see that were not shown at your theatre (or elsewhere in the neighborhood). Do people want more foreign films, old films, documentaries, or film festivals, for instance?

Try to find out if your stage theatres have ever shown movies. If they have, add them to this site.

In Boston, for instance, movies have occasionally been shown at the Colonial Theatre (a legitimate stage) and Symphony Hall (a concert hall). That’s enough for them to get pages here.

Cool. Did you get any photos?

I’m still getting plenty of e-mail notices about theatres that I have posted comments to years ago.

Last week’s Boston Phoenix features a long article about the Paramount, the adjoining Bijou, and Emerson College’s redevelopment of both buildings:

Tinseltown East

Read it to learn all about the Bijou’s illustrious history.

I tried to phone the theatre. No answer after many rings.

I think it’s more relevant to ask what’s on the sign outside, what’s in local newspaper print advertising, and how does the theatre answer the phone. I’m not in LA, so I can’t answer the first two of these questions.

Yep, I’m using .ORG — that’s how I can come here at all. (And you’ll fix the name of the National Theatre too, right?)

I’m still getting the “Cinema Treasures is moving to a new server.” page if I go to http://cinematreasures.org .

Could you please change the name of this theatre back to ‘National Theatre’ (instead of ‘National Westwood Theatre’) ?

/theaters/799/

I suspect that the server changeover ate all of the e-mails that I and other people have been sending you on this subject.

You have switched CinemaTreasures.org, but not cinematreasures.org . The .com site still says “Cinema Treasures is moving to a new server.”

Was this part of the same small chain as the Lexington Flick, Billerica Flick, Lowell Flick, etc? Of these, only the Lexington one is still open today.

So who bought it from the Jehovah’s Witnesses, and how are they using this building?

Ron Newman

Looks like they did not bother to remove ‘Mann’ from the big sign on top.

Ron Newman commented about National Theatre on May 18, 2007 at 6:31 am

Someone recently changed the name here at CinemaTreasures from ‘Mann National Theatre’ to ‘National Westwood Theatre’.

Is this definitely the name the theatre is now using on signs and advertising?

Does the YMCA still actively use this building today?

Has a new building been erected on the site of the Plaza yet? If so, what is in the new building?

How is this theatre currently being advertised in the LA Times and other local newspapers? What name does it have in the ad?
