After looking at it you guys are right. I talked to a guy some years ago that worked for the company that demolished it. He was just out of the Army and it was his first job. He remembers it and he said it was shame they tore it down for a parking lot. But at that time there was a lot of movie screens in downtown Toledo and with the drive-ins. Thank God they saved the Valentine and restored it. At one time that was going to be demolished also.
The reason is that somebody has to write a good historical overview of the theaters so it can be put on CT. I have been working the Ohio/Toledo drive-in theaters myself. That is the great thing about CT, anybody can write, submit overviews and pictures of theaters.
National Amusements closed their three drive-ins in the Toledo area in 1986. Built a new theater on the Maumee Drive-In site and the Franklin Park Drive-In, Miracle Mile Drive-In sites went retail. They sold the Maumee location to Rave, because of money problems. Rave closed it because of too many screens in the area. It was sold to a church. That will be big church!!! A lot of people I have talked to, miss the Maumee Drive-In. The Maumee was the oldest one in the Toledo area!! All three are listed on Cinema Treasures…
