Looks like Hwy 7 is in Ohio, across the river. Do you mean Hwy 2 instead? If you put the following address into the address bar, it’ll pop right onto the location.

630 Short Creek Rd., Short Creek, WV 26003 United States

Looks like the new one-story place is Wheelng Office Supply. The following view approximates the 1951 view above.

I was going to post that address. In the 1997 view on GE, you can make out the first 6 rows or so, and that’s about it.. Screen was to the West, to the right where the little pond is now.

This is an exact duplicate of the Lake Park Drive-In already on CT.

I did stop through there in January of this year and snapped some pics. You could see evidence of a fire on the South wall of the old place. All of the green tile and sloped flooring of the theater are still there. Just like the Google Street View shows.

It was on Front St. Maybe someone will update the address.

Google Earth Dec 1956 imagery shows a small drive it at the 5300 block, just to the West of the Thunderbird.

My 1954 El Paso phone book lists this drive in as North Loop Drive In Theatre. “Drive Out Tonight In Your Car For Comfort And Privacy.. There Are Always Top Features At North Loop”

Address listed back then was 8420 North Loop Rd. ULstr 9-9211

There’s a pretty huge old drive in at 1374 Wasson Rd, is this the one listed here? Nothing near 2708 block looks like an old drive in.

Ruben Chavez Dr. with John Wayne Dr circling inside the old drive in HERE

Way out on Hwy 44, Where 44 goes from a divided road, to undivided hwy. Looks like a construction company lot now. HERE

Western Ave and W. Ave D. HERE

Dribe-Ins website calls the Kings Drive-In the Hi-Way. I got my information from postings here.

Old Google Earth shows up to 9 drive-ins in Corpus in the 50’s. I found 3 in nearby Robstown, can you help identify them?

Located just a few blocks North of the The Kings Drive In. In this field where the equipment is parked.

I see on GE what appears to be an old theater building at the corner of N. Cuyler and E. Francis. Labeled as the Knights of Columbus Hall. The marquee looks to have contained 5 letters, the last letter left on the old marquee is an E in the 5th position.

Could this be the State in the opening comments? If so, I don’t see an entry for this theater.

Absolutely it could be. I don’t have all the resources you guys have so I named it and hoped someone would come in and correct it.

I am sure all you Kingsville guys remembered the old H. M. King High School building. I drove through there last week and say the grand old building and wanted to take some pics before it falls down. A good bit of the roof looks like it’s falling through in places. According to what I’ve read, it was supposed to be fixed up for the city offices, but it may get way to far gone. A shame since it’s over 100 years old now.

But like an idiot, I packed my camera, and left my memory cards at home.

Silicon Sam commented about Texon Drive-In on Oct 6, 2010 at 10:32 pm

Most of the theaters I run across in West Texas have been closed for so many years, it’s unlikely anything of value remains inside.

I did get lots of pics of the remaining Texon buildings before they were bulldozed. Sad to think people lived there, in the middle of nowhere. Nice and quiet though.
