Notic that the headlight are on all cars and taxis. “Roxy” Rothafel gave some ideas that were incorporated into the design of RCMH, such as the idea for the “sunburst stage (I read that he got the idea when he was taking an ocean cruise and was watching the sun setting) but he is not the designer.
RCMH remains one of the most beautiful theatres in the world. I hope it always continues to be well taken care of. It is a treasure that future genrations should be able to see and enjoy.
For thirty-six years the auditorium has been a storage area for furniture. The orchestra was leveled, and the ceiling is in bad shape, as are the surrounding ornaments. Remembering the theatre’s appearance when I was young, this photo makes me very sad. As I mentioned before, the real estate is valuable in this area. Someday the building will be razed. This ultra-religious community will never allow it to become a theatre again. The people once supported such cultural things(including myself)have all moved away.
The West end elevated structure was already there when the Boro Park theatre was built in 1921. That is why a curved entrance was designed for the corner of fifty-first street.

Plenty of showmanship and style in that program. Makes you want to attend that theatre. I appreciate S. Porridge letting us see it.
Steve Morris looks like a very kind person. I hope the Gem Theatrre continues for a long time to entertain the area. It’s an attractive theatre.

Child star Bobby Breen not only appeared on the Radio City Music Hall stage, but appeared on the Roxy stage with Eddie Cantor.

I don’t remember any of the decorations in the auditorium, only the usherette screaming at us children on the weekend shows.
