AMC recently introduced an on demand streaming service where stubs members can buy or rent movies online. I’m very happy that AMC is going in the right direction while attendance at its theaters remain flat. Sadly the football games are not showing at any of its NYC area theatres including this one.
How is it compared to the Dolby and Prime screens here?
I still remember going to Eagle Eye opening weekend and being shocked at how SMALL the IMAX was. It was the same price as lincoln square at the time but was tiny. They even gave a questionnaire out at the end I remember, I wrote how I hated how small the screen was. I have NEVER been back to that IMAX.
In the 60s 70s pictures would be booked on Broadway and showing at the deuce…With smaller screens, loyalty cards it now makes sense to be booked on both sides of the road…but it is a shame because this might once have been an exclusive for the Plaza or dare I say the Paris
This has been going on for about a year now, Cool.
A full-page ad in Friday’s New York Times had the new “Downton Abbey” feature opening at 18 locations in Manhattan, as well as “in theaters everywhere.” Presumably not every “screen” at those Manhattan locations was booked with “Downton Abbey.” But I was surprised to see that both sides of West 42nd Street are included with the AMC Empire 25 and the Regal E-Walk Stadium 13 & RPX.
Why would this cinema’s LIEMAX first be added to the description? IMAX here is a joke.
Please add to description, Eagle Eye was the first movie shown in IMAX Cinema 1 at the AMC Empire on September 26, 2008. It was the first IMAX digital theatre in New York City.
Moviepass is no more. If you’re trying to buy tickets online via AMC’s site, it’s down right now.
Looks like Joker will come out in regular, IMAX and dolby at this theater as said in the trailer online. Maybe even prime.

A few days ago people took shelter at this venue along others due to a false alarm which was actually a bad muffler on a bike.
For those seeing Hobbs and Shaw in Dolby, there is a trailer for Tenet which is being shown exclusively before this movie. I saw the leaked trailer online and it looks promising.
One wonders how such a mass evacuation was handled. How were refunds and/or rainchecks distributed for last Saturday night’s blackout? I guess that anyone without a receipt of some sort was out of luck.
There was a major power outage affecting this theater
And regular screenings of Spiderman were indeed at the $6.00 Tuesday discount price.
There certaining is a box office counter at the Empire and at other AMC locations
And likely it’s not included as part of the discount since it’s a “Special Engagement”
I think that’s because the studio wanted to take advantage of the 4th of July weekend as much as they could.
Pretty weird that the new Spider-Man movie is opening on one of the busiest days at AMC is Discount Tuesday
The service/convenience fee is always $1.50 per ticket, never any more. And that’s only charged when you’re actually ready to order. Other than that it shows regular box office prices. BTW there is no real “box office” anymore here or at other AMCs in the city, just vending machines.
Cinemas 1,2,3 on the East Side have a general admission of $19, $16 for kids and seniors, and $10 for shows starting before noon. Also an extra $3.50 for a 3-D feature and $2.00 for 70mm presentations. How do those prices compare to the two multi-screens on West 42nd Street?
No service charge if you belong to their loyalty programs.
I don’t think that would work for the info I’m seeking, which is prices charged at box office for walk-in patrons. Prices paid on the internet always include a variable “service fee,” don’t they?
