National hills was the last theatre to play “SONG OF THE SOUTH” Mr.Pete the old projectionist said the line was the longest he had ever seen at this shopping center theatre. It left Augusta and it was gone.Re-release.
Robin, Historical trivia question. What were three soft drinks sold at the concession at National Hills theatre? COKE, SPRITE and FANTA ORANGE. I drank so much one time my dentist said it was causing sores on my gums.I cut back on my Cokes.
Robin, Met a lady the other night,She heard my loud mouth, talking theatres. She said she worked with you at National Hills and Columbia Square. Her name was Anne and I’ll be damned.LOL.Have her Email.
NEWSFLASH…Just notice a post with two CT members talking about a RADIO STATION ! Has nothing to do with the theatre the post was on.
Your still the man Mike.
Thanks for caring.
Thanks Mike, did you get my personal e-mail,some folks here that talk about useing e-mail do not list theirs?Maybe they got to many bad ones.Have a great day.
Nothing left but the boxed Auditorium and it had concrete poured in it to level it out; the lobby and rest of the theatre gone,Just like i am from this site i really enjoyed.Stay on Topic in Nashville,Tlslowes.Your Theatre EMPLOYEE friend,Mike.
Thanks Mike,Ed, and Chuck, for all of your guys info no matter how little or how much.We all love this site,in different ways,Now back to the National Hills somebodys favorite theatre,Is there any chance of this theatre being restored or becoming an cinema again? Maybe we can start a Friends of the National Hills, why not?
Oh, for the REcord,National Hills Theatre conversation is not much different from some of the post I read from Northern theatres around New York Area,Some of those posts have nothing to do with the history of those theatres some have over 1000 posts.Have A nice Day.
Well, I have completed all the History on National Hills Theatre there is no more.So I will not Post another item. Thanks National Hills Theatre in my book one of the best in the Country. BYe.
Renewing link.
Clearly the folks who post on the National Hills site and other Augusta GA-based sites are friendly people who cherish the years they spent working in Augusta theaters and making life-long friends of their moviehouse colleagues. They mean no harm here.
That said, I must concur with Chuck 1231’s observation. Nearly 100 percent of the postings on all of the Augusta sites are of minimal historical significance. They’re more like emails, text messages or blog remarks that feed on each other without any value to the background or significance to the theaters they’re supposedly about.
The notes that matter are lost in a sea of minutiae.
And because those of us who really want to know more about the theaters themselves have no way of knowing which messages are irrelevant, we call them up one by one.
The National Hills, for whatever reason, has become the most abused of the Augusta sites, which is why I finally gave up and removed my checkmark from the box at the bottom of the site. But as many of us have figured out, the checkbox system is imperfect at best. I can’t stop getting the many daily National Hills notifications. It’s kind of like a kid who rings your doorbell and runs several times a day. You gotta trudge to the door each time to be sure it’s not important.
Believe me, Augusta folks, I mean no malice in finally, finally speaking up. And I do have a suggestion for you: Set us a “closed-circuit” email group that you can use every time you want to exchange notes on reunions and your personal comings and goings. It’s very easy to do.
That way, every passing, incidental thought will not go out to a (potential) international audience.
We can see that you’re nice, well-intentioned people. Please give my suggestion some thought. Cinema Treasures truly isn’t the correct forum for what you’re writing. Thank you, one and all.
Bob,Is on MALL CORNERS 6 I left him a post about your Pictures of the Atlanta theatres if you want to pop over there to see what he wrote.Take care.
I may have run into him and just don’t remember..it was a long time ago! I wish they would get on here too. I know they would have a lot to say!
I stll can’t believe those other two Assistants Diane and Cathy refuse to get on CT.They seem to have the personality to do it.
I don’t know if he has 500 Theatres,But he sure likes LOEWS.Maybe we should list all the ABC/PLITT and GCC and Georgia theatres ! I don’t know how he could copy that 16mm without a few bucks,I really don’t know what he might be talking about.that is what he showed at one of our reunions.I found an old Atlanta newspaper,MOVIE ADS and listed some on some of your Theatres,Did you remember the OMNI 6.I knew it has the CNN 6 Cinemas.OMNI 6 is on CT.I left a post there, but I was sure you never woked there,SEEMS like you would have run into Stan Malone In Atlanta he too worked several different theatres.
500??? That would keep you busy for a while! LOL I was surprised to see so many messages last night. It did get me motivated to get back on here. I didn’t really want a copy of the film, but the last time we got together Bill talked like it was something he really wanted to show us.
I was bored I guess the other night and left messages on ALL YOUR THEATRES. I do it to TLSLOEWS often too.Well, not all of his he has about 500 theatres on his page.
Robin, I am sure you girls could handle it.I was surprized how little cussin' was in it.The only thing that gets on your nreves is charles being drunk and talking homosexual acts with all the guys.I think for 95 minutes you would like it.Tom W. is in it along with the Tinneys.Outside of that i don’t think you would the rest.I think the film he wants to show is a 16mm selection of TV trailers we use to get for the local TV stations. No videotape. Heck, call him and he can dupe you a copy and mail it to you.He has my DVD disc now.
I just feel so bad about that. Does he still have the film he wanted to show us? We need to get together for that. I would like to see the video you made of old reunions. I think us girls could handle it :)
Sent Bill a copy of the NATIONAL HILLS theatre reunion,Robin. and made some Theatre copies from old pictures I had.Bill said he would copy the DVD and send it back.
We all have favorites,as much as i loved Columbia 1 and 2 ,National Hills will always be my Favorite,YES, I liked the IMPERIAL too,Robin!
I put something over there for you Mike …one of my favorite theatres…
No show that I know of,I see a bunch of Atlanta theatres like Mall Corners on Ct,I left a post there for you Robin.
