Check out the Loyola Theater (Westchester, CA) page for a You Tube TV ad posted recently. The Colonel makes a live appearance. You can also see the theater, which was the point of the addition.
KFC was actually pretty good in the seventies. I think they were using the original recipe which had a little spice to it. That has been homogenized out of existence to the tasteless crud they serve now. Hopefully KFX is not one of the sponsors at the top of the page.
L, I feel your pain. I once typed in a lengthy comment using my wife’s Blackberry, which has tiny keys not suited for my large fingers. After all that, I forgot that I had to log in first and my comment was lost forever.
I spent a lot of time in Westwood in the early and mid 80s, which was kind of its heyday, at least in my era. It was packed to the gills with students and non-students having a good time. There was a shooting in 1988 which put the brakes on the crowds, and then after the SM promenade opened it was downhill all the way. I’ve probably been to Westwood Village once since 1990 or so.
Is this on Admiral Wilson boulevard? My Jersey geography is a little rusty now, although I used to take the NJ Transit bus from AC to Philly all the time. That went down 73, I think.
Isn’t there some county office where all that stuff is on file? Dept of buildings and planning, or something like that. I assume that’s all public record once the plans are filed. You might want to start there.
A.G. Meister & Sons Carriage Factory currently occupies 910-914 Ninth Street. I haven’t come up with any pictures of the business, however. They may have taken over the theater building.
Don’t diss the Philmeister. A legend in his own time.
Phil Spitalny was sent to net heaven by mistake, but he lives again:

Perhaps Main Street is the new Melrose Avenue? That would be interesting. The old Melrose gave up the eclectic ghost as soon as the first Gap opened.
The final cut of Blade Runner is currently playing at the new Landmark theater in West Los Angeles.

KFC, that is. It’s getting late.

Blade Runner final cut is playing there now, if any one is interested. I liked the film but I never had the fascination that others seem to have.
The competition has a few photos of the Ritz as well.

In 1970 the State was part of H&H Theaters, H.J. Hodge Jr, accountant-partner, per the IMPA of that year.
“Atco Racing! Atco Atco Atco! Sunday Sunday Sunday! Be there be there be there!” Anyone remember this hyperactive radio ad from the seventies?
That’s interesting. I was wondering what the demand for carriages was in 2007. I’d be curious to see a photo of the building.
